The first eye full

I have made it to Paris! But no without a couple hiccups and speed bumps along the way.

The night before I was to leave for Paris at 7:30 am I am enjoying the last part of the evening with Lana, Anna, and Allison. As we are leaving Lana and Anna’s new house we discover Allison’s battery is dead. All boyfriends, dads and Barb are busy watching the last 5 minutes of a nail biter-Mavs game (which we WON!). Needless to say, us girls were on our own to jump the battery. 30 minutes later, in addition to a couple google searches and angry honks from passer-bys, Allisons car is up and running and I am home safe in my bed ready to conquer DFW airport.

In an effort to save money, I accepted a very generous offer from my Uncle to fly with a buddy pass to Paris. I was flying standby so I was fully aware that I might not make the 1st or 2nd flight on my itinerary. I do not think I was prepared to get bumped from 6. I think I could have been more flexible had I been flying domestically but I soon became very nervous thinking about trying to maneuver through Charles de Gaulle in August and how I might not be too thrilled spending the night in a foreign airport. In a last minute decision, I walked up to the counter and bought a direct flight to Paris with a seat there and a seat home in August. It was a tad more expensive than the buddy pass and I got to enjoy the lovely seats fit for a human of 5 feet or less, and a very sick elderly man coughing up phlegm all night.

But I made it safely, found Ben without any trouble at the airport, got my bags, and made it to my incredible apartment. One queen bed comes out of the wall and one twin bed comes out of a “chest of drawers.” As of now I have chosen the couch for my first night.
In an attempt to get over my jet lag Ben and I ate a picnic and napped in the Luxembourg Gardens. Then we made our way to the Pantheon, took a second nap at the apartment, and met Patricia and friends at the Champs de Mars for late night pizza and wine. On day ONE I already got an eye-full of the Eiffel J  Its been an incredible journey getting here, but I know the actual journey is yet to come!
