This morning Bethany had the morning off so we decided to venture across town to Christian City Church (C3 Paris), a recommendation from Kelly Lynch. We had a bit of trouble finding it and were doing a good job of wandering around the street in the general area we thought it was located. After walking up and down the street once we spotted a girl about our age carrying a Bible. BINGO. We followed her into a theater and down two floors into the basement…this should have been some sort of a red flag but we figured she was holding a Bible so she should be safe!
As it turns out, she is from Tulsa, Oklahoma and is in town for the summer as well. She is looking for a job in the city but has her sights set on Disneyland, which is about an hour outside of Paris. She met the pastors at C3 at a conference in Switzerland so she was able to give us the scoop on the church and a lot of the people there. Beth and I had some trouble fitting in the tiny chairs during the service… apparently most French people aren’t as tall as we are. The songs were entirely in French and the sermon was in English by a man and his wife translated it into French as he went. It was funny not knowing the words of the song, but we knew what they were singing about at the same time. We also took Communion and since the service was so small, the pastor and his wife prayed individually over every person in the group before they sat down.
The last song of the service was another song in French but with 3 English words: “Oh Happy Day!” -- Oh happy day, we knew 3 words in the song and were able to sing those three whenever they came up! Ha! Overall we both really enjoyed the service despite the language barrier. Everyone was very welcoming and we were invited back next week J

Bonjour Luke!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing your pics and your blog- great title ;) Looks like yall are all settled in!
OHHHH MYYYY GOOSSSH!! Yall got GROM??!??! You have no idea how jealous I am right now! That's only the very very best in my opinion (Britt begs to differ, but we agreed to disagree :) Oh and if you walk out of Grom, turn right and walk past a few stores, then walk across the street and you'll find the best little sandwich shop in Paris!! It's called Cosi- it's the original one started by this Italian dude that's now franchised it in the US, but the Paris shop is by far the best! Can't wait for more entries.... love the blog and love you! Tell Patricia, Bethany, and Ben hello for me!
xoxo,
