The View From the Top

After some good "only daughter" begging, I convinced my parents to pop over to Paris on the tail end of the Baltic Cruise where they celebrating being married for 25 wonderful years!!

It was the most fun day and a half having them here. They were tired from their travels and I was a bit weary from the Spain travels so we took it easy the entire time they were here. They went on the Fat Tire Versailles Tour during the day I was traveling back from Spain and I met them at their hotel when they got back.

The three of us, Jill and Brittany then enjoyed cheese and wine at a cafe in the Tuilieries and a later dinner before crashing early at the hotel. Their hotel was directly next to the Louvre and the Tuileries with actual beds, no bunk beds to be seen, private bathrooms and free towels!! Talk about a far cry from our 30 Euro/night hostels I have been staying in.

The next day, we ate breakfast at the hotel (my first hot breakfast in 2 months!!!) and then headed to the Luxembourg Gardens with Ben. On the way we decided to walk into the Pantheon. (Ben and I have not made it inside yet due to the fee associated with entrance. Kristen and I enjoyed the outside only as well for the same reason) Luckily, mom and dad wanted to go in so we got to see it as well! The Pantheon was meant to be a church but is now a place where famous French people are buried: Victor Hugo, Alexander Dumas, the man who invented Braille.

Then we sat in the Luxembourg gardens for 3 hours :) It was so nice to relax in perfect weather and catch up on two months apart. We had no where to be and no one to meet...such a freeing feeling wasn't it B&D??

Mom and Dad were then surprised by my "apartment" and the quarters that I have been living in for the summer. Needless to say, we didnt stay there long. We then went and drank wine at the Champ de Mars and gazed at the Eiffel Tower for a little bit until Jill, Brittany and Ben met up with us for a lovely french dinner at Cafe Du Marche on Rue Cler. YUMMM....

After 2 months of always checking menus to be sure we were getting the lowest prices possible, it was nice to eat and drink and not worry about the price or the conversion of Euro to Dollar. It was also nice to wake up and fall asleep to a view of the Eiffel Tower for two nights in a row.

We have all decided that we may not be ecstatic about our upcoming jobs but we have seen the vacations that really hard work will get you and what fun things you can do with the rewards from that job and are excited to NEVER stay in hostels again :) Mom and Dad, thank you again for letting me hang out with yall for two days....if you want to come back anytime in the next two weeks I will not be opposed!!!

  1. Yes, our time together was waaaaay special! Glad you had a total comparasion of what a J.O.B. gets you. Makes those long days at PWC a little easier to swallow knowing what that paycheck can buy.... like a room with a view! Your "room with a view of Wabash circle" waits for you! Hugs, MOM
